A Modern Twist on an Old Custom!!
An old Jewish custom when someone is moving into a new home has been to bring,
A New Broom, to have a fresh start
A Loaf of bread , so that the cupboards are always full
Salt , so that life shall be full of flavor
Sugar, for A Sweet Life
I thought it was hard packing my children up and setting them up in their temporary homes at School, but it was even harder emotionally packing my daughter Carly up and moving her into her first apartment in the City.
Lucky enough is Carly to be moving in with her two dearest friends , Trisha & Alex and starting the next stage of their lives at a 5th floor walk up in Gramercy. Well I thought the emotional part was hard, but that was nothing compared to the actual move . It takes a village, with friends and family as we transformed a carved out room in a 3 bedroom apartment to become my daughter's first independent home.
It took 3 movers, 5 people painting, four people putting together what seemed like an overwhelming number of Ikea boxes full of furniture, me cleaning dishes, glasses & trinkets, and finding a spot for each, and Carly putting everything in the final place.
This is my new twist on an old classic,
I wish for the girls :
I can't wait to go into the City to see Carly, but I mostly look forward to her coming home.
